Welcome to my bird brains blog! My intent is to share my knowledge of the neuroscience of birds and get you as excited about birds as I am. There will be a smattering of conservation plugs but mostly this blog is about how smart birds are and why their brains are fascinating!
Alice is a budding neuroscientist and graduate student at UCSD. She is studying skilled motor learning in rats to better understand the basic substrates of memory and learning in the brain. If she is not in lab, she can usually be found squinting determinedly up into a tree trying to identify a bird, behind a pair of binoculars on a similar quest or on her tippy-toes in ballet class in the colorful neighborhood of Pacific Beach.
